The big material benefits of recycling!
A new project in Epping is hoping residents will soon cotton on to the concept of recycling their textiles.
The Environmental Conservation Co-operative launches its doorstep collection service Text-BAC in Epping Forest today (Thursday) following the scheme’s success in Harlow.
The organisation collects household items such as clothing, shoes, bedding, curtains and towels.
Video cassettes, DVD’s, computer games, books and kitchenware can also be recycled by the scheme.
Project manager Sean Folan said: “Text-BAC’s main objective is to maximise the tonnages of recycling, and, secondly, to give opportunities to disadvantaged and less-able people to get back into employment.”
He added "the amount of recycling achieved by Text-BAC will help Epping Forest Council meet its national targets."
Doorstep collections take place every three months from Epping homes.
