TEXTILE RECYCLING SERVICE
The local kerbside textiles recycling scheme in Harlow and Epping Forest is called Text-BAC - you can recognise it from the logo on the bags delivered to your home. This service is provided in partnership with Epping Forest District Council and Harlow District Council.
Collections are made from all low-rise properties approximately once every three months.

Textile items we can accept:
Clothing for re-wearing and recycling
Paired footwear (shoes, boots, trainers, etc)
Bags (handbags, school bags, luggage, etc)
Towels
Household linen (sheets, curtains, etc)
What do I need to do?
Please fill the text-BAC bag with textiles, using a separate bag for bric-a-brac and other items. Use the handles on the bag to tie it up. This will keep your items dry and protected from the elements.
Leave outside on the boundary of your property on your collection day, which is printed on the white label on your Text-BAC bag.
If you need more than one bag, please use bin bags clearly marked with Text-BAC and put it next to the Text-BAC bag.
On an average week LMB now collects 170 to 200 tonnes of textiles, clothing and shoes from all of its suppliers including ECCO. 80 per cent will be sorted and exported for reuse, 10 per cent that isn't fit for reuse will be cut into wiping cloths, 5 per cent will be sent for flocking and felting, leaving a minimal 5 per cent waste, incorporating household rubbish, hangers and single shoes.
Don’t Use Bogus Collectors
Bogus collectors sell your donated textiles for their own profit. Using the Text-BAC service you can be sure your textiles are being recycled. Look out for the Text-BAC logo.
